Recombinase XerC of the XerCD complex.
Xer C is activated by a septum-translocated FtsK at cell division. It pairs with XerD to make an activated complex which cleaves or inverts sequences at dif-sites, depending on dif-site directionality. See Edinburgh project 2007 for details.
It turns out that XerC overexpression is a very effective way of not getting any colonies on your agar-plates. Therefore the Edinburgh 2007 team never incorperated it into its final construct.
